St Louis print companies may one day take a leaf of the book of UK trade printer RCS. The company has installed a charging station for electric vehicles at its Nottinghamshire plant. The company will use the station for its electric vehicle fleet and it will also be available to members of the public. Its not too far-fetched to think this could soon happen in St Louis as a downtown charging station opened in the city in late January, allowing members of the public to charge cars for a cost of just $4.
Printing companies are likely to be the big winners, however the Super Bowl trophy competition turns out, says the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI). Thats good news for St Louis printers and other companies offering printing services in this area. According to the ASI T-shirts with logos are being frantically prepared for an expected buyer stampede on Monday. Many sports fans will also be looking to snap up jackets and other items with the logos of their teams. Sunday night will be a big night in the printing industry as up to 25,000 T-shirts will need to be printed with either the New England Patriots or New York Giants logos.
A St. Louis, Missouri printer has been named among the top 50 private sector suppliers of printing services to the Government Printing Office (GPO) in 2011. Compton and Sons came in at number 31 on the list, rising from its 2010 ranking of 98. The volume of business done was $1.9 million. To put this in perspective, NPC Inc of Claysburg, PA, topped the list for the third time straight, gaining business worth $24.7 million during the Federal Fiscal Year, which ran to September 2011.
Nominations for entry to the William D. Schaeffer Award, run by Printing Industries of America, are now open. The award, which has been running since 1990, highlights print companies in the graphics communications industry who have helped to raise awareness and foster environmental action within the industry.
